The member of the Bundestag Axel Echeverria (SPD) enables local artists to exhibit their works in his constituency office in Witten, Bahnhofstraße. At the moment, paintings by Reinhold Spratte are on display. He works together with the Fritz Bauer Forum, a center for human rights that is currently being built in Bochum. Spratte designs the covers for the book series “Fritz Bauer Bibliothek” (BUXUS EDITION), some of which can be seen in the exhibition.
Admission: FreeSince his election in the fall of 2021, Axel Echeverria (SPD) has been using a former store at Bahnhofstraße 12 in Witten as his constituency office. Instead of empty walls and shop windows, local art is on display.
“Art enriches our everyday life. With its large open spaces and inviting shop windows, my Witten constituency office is ideal for exhibitions. It is also important to me to give local artists the opportunity to exhibit their works centrally and for everyone to see. The feedback from passers-by is good. Time and again, people come in who are interested and just want to take a look,” says Echeverria.
Reinhold Spratte’s current exhibition includes paintings done in oil, acrylic or a combination of both techniques. The non-objective, abstract paintings, whose forms, surfaces and color schemes have only emerged in the dialogic process of painting, were created from many layers over each other and depict an exciting relationship between forms and colors. The paintings are intentionally not titled. This prevents the creative process of viewing from being rushed into predefined paths.
The viewers are thus freer in their encounter with the pictures. And freedom is what Reinhold Spratte is all about.
Interested artists who would like to exhibit their works can either contact the office directly, call 0173 6596246 or send an e-mail to axel.echeverria.ma03@bundestag.de.
